Are all unknown soldiers tomb's guarded by sentries, if so why?

Im currently reading, "Trojan Horse" by J.J Benitez and Im curious about the part where the author describes the unknown soldier's tomb being guarded by a sentry. All this happens in the National Cemetery of Washington D.C, Arlington. If they are all guarded, why? and if it's only one in particular, why?
