What is this called ( read please )?

On the story of flight 401, what is that one thing called that you contact with demons and stuff like tht. My friend's aunt had one and she put it in the dumpster outside and it appeared in her closet... Then she tried burning it and it appeared in her closet exactly how it was. Then they moved and the people there saw it and started playing with it and it started haunting them... Freaky stuff there. Sorry if i didnt give enough info
