Why do Christians believe humans get an afterlife but not animals?

How narcissistic is that? Animals deserve more of a heaven then we ever will, they haven't plunged the world into chaos, they only kill to survive, they don't kill for greed, they live peacefully in their own environment but humans on the other hand do far worse. When will people realize that the afterlife idea is ego-centric?
