What is wrong with someone who reacts like this?

Ok, basically ever since I was very little my mom would cut my hair very short, like boy short. She also kind of encourages that I wear sporty/boy clothing, even though I don't listen to that and dress how I want. However recently I went to the hairdressers, and even though I'm in my 20's, my mom told me how I should get my haircut very very short. When I came back, and still had length to my hair, she freaked out. Ever since then, she's been treating me horribly, calling me names, constantly criticizing me, this that. Also whenever I buy something that's kind of girly, she'll pout, be crabby, look unhappy, and be downright angry for a long time. So what is wrong with her? Why does she react this way, and is this normal?
